(I'm a strictly Taiyo Yuden guy.) Memorex CDs SUCK.and sure enough, eventually the MacBook stopped burning.I tried another Memorex - refused to touch it. Tried the most recent failed - worked this time! (It DID have a lot of dust on it - I wiped it off before I put it back in the drive.)Īnd.these were all (gak!!) Memorex CDs that I somehow acquired. Tried another - SUCCESS! Tried another - and another - both successes! Another - but failed. Plus, when I tried my circa 1997 lens cleaner I ran it through only once at a time.) (The MacBook kept spitting it out, but every time I noticed it was making new sounds and taking longer time before ejecting. I ran the cleaner through my MacBook probably about fifteen times. So I went out and bought a Memorex CD cleaner thingy (despite the fact that all their recordable media have proven to be worthless).Īs a control, I tried to burn a CD in Toast before cleaning the lens - failed. One swore by the Memorex OptiDisc CD/DVD cleaner. They both tried CD lens cleaner and had instant success.
TOAST BURN CDS PROFESSIONAL
I Yahoo'ed SuperDrive problems, and found a couple of professional bloggers who recently had the same issue (and if you go to the forum at, there's a thread about the problem that at one point was about thirty pages long before it was trimmed down). So.any thoughts? And I rather would NOT have to boot into Linux whenever I need to burn a CD or DVD. I've had no problems until 10.6.2 (and even then I was still able to burn stacks of discs until last week).

I get FLAWLESS burns (and yes, I check the actual discs later and they work fine on any computer, any OS, and in the case of audio CDs, any CD player).Īlso, I know others on other forums have been having the same problems, and they seem to be issues with Snow Leopard.
TOAST BURN CDS SOFTWARE
How do I know that? Well, if I boot my MacBook into Linux, all the Linux burning software I have has NO PROBLEM. And these errors happen regardless of type or brand of media. I've tried all the basic troubleshooting - trying to burn to a test account (didn't work), rebooting (once in a while works for ONE disc), clearing the caches (worked for two discs - and yes, I tried again after the errors started up gain), resetting the PRAM (nada), repairing permissions (it found a LOT of permissions problems, but the repair did nothing to fix the burning problem), repairing the disks (didn't solve the problem).basically, you name it, I did it. So.I've been burning CDs and DVDs regularly with my MacBook since I got it at the tail-end of 2007.suddenly, Toast Titanium 8 is giving me the 0x0C error (bad media, write error before it writes the lead-in) about 19 times out of 20.
